Microsoft Corporation
(NASDAQ: MSFT, HKEX: 4338)

Founded in Alberquerque, New Mexico in 1974 by Bill Gates and Paul Allen Microsoft Corporation started out by selling interpreters for BASIC (an acronym for Beginner’s All-purpose Symbolic Instruction Code) until the mid 80′s where the focus shifted to the personal computer running MS-DOS (an acronym for Microsoft Disk Operating System) and the company dominated the market. Around that same time Microsoft Corporation went public; the Initial Public Offering (IPO) with shares starting around $27 all you have to do is watch the markets.

Today Microsoft Corporation’s market share is undeniable. Most companies, short of very specific professions, use Microsoft’s Windows Operating System for their daily operations. Both Bill and Paul are no strangers to the Forbes Magazine’s rich list as one or both continue to linger in the top 10 every year.

Bill Gates’ philanthropic endeavors can be seen in the various charitable contributions for education and scientific research made by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.

Microsoft Corporation’s success is not limited to its line of Windows Operating System. Aquisiton of a cable television network, the MSN internet portal, some computer hardware markets, music and MP3 market, and the gaming entertainment markets make this multinational company a juggernaut.
